Mentally I didn't notice the first 2 drinks I had when taking it and after about 5 I could think fine but my motor skills were hampered. When you first start taking Vyvanse, your doctor will likely prescribe the lowest possible dosage. If you are going to drink while on it be careful. So I think vyvanse is great and would like to take that medication again, but I don't play to take that high of a dosage. I could only focus on that train of thought. But that shouldn't be fixed, but I had to, but I shouldn't. So I had to be able to fix the relationship. With vyvanse I felt as if I could figure out anything. I was living with relatives that were alcoholics that didn't understand me and my girlfriend (that I worked with ) who I didn't realize I loved broke up with me. The downside was I ended up getting panic attacks from it. I could map put a situation and analysis on people to am extreme, systematically to know how it should be done depending on the people working on it to the upmost effiency. But if I forgot to take it once in a while or decided not to I didn't feel bad, I felt okay off of it. If I took it after 11am then I wouldn't be able to sleep until 4 so I had to remember to take it on time or not at all. I was better socially (also diagnosed with aspergers) and didn't get overwhelmed if i was in a loud environment. ![]() ![]() The Doctor I think prescribed to me a higher dose then I now think I should have taken (I'm skinny ) I felt as if I had tunnel vision on everything at once, I could concentrate on everything. I used to take vyvanse 50mg and it was awesome. TL:DR prefer vyvanse mainly due to longevity (10ish hours) and no comedown cons: Doesn't help me with motivation and harder to eat compared to adderall IR Just my experiences and sorry if its long, hope it helps. But there is no comedown I can tell theres just a point where I can tell its working and at some point I can tell its not no super hard comedown like adderall IR had. Also eating on vyvanse is A LOT harder for me on vyvanse compared to adderall where I would eat better due to actually thinking about it and not just hyperfocusing on a game etc, "ok time for bed, HOLY FUCK I HAVEN'T EATEN ANYTHING TODAY." along with stomach pain/discomfort the first couple hours until it fully takes effect. Where as I've considered possibly switching to adderall XR since IR gave me motivation until a couple weeks before it would become ineffective for symptoms and motivation is my biggest obstacle. I'm not fairly experienced with all the meds (only adderall IR 10-25 mg and vyvanse 30-50mg) Vyvanse I prefer vyvanse primarily due to length (about 10 hours or so) but the downside (and this could be just dosage related) I don't get any motivation from vyvanse other than the first few days I started on it "the high" I suppose although I didn't feel it. Vyvanse, on the other hand, has given me no side effects and is very effective, even though I'm taking a very low dose (20 mg). Before Vyvanse, I was on Strattera, though it gave me intolerable side effects. Vyvanse was the first stimulant that I tried. Personally, I have no experience with methylphenidate. This also means that there's a lower risk of it being diverted to the black market. Snorting or injecting it won't make the amount of dextroamphetamine in the blood rise any faster than ingesting it, so it's much less abusable. This means fewer side effects and a lower chance of producing euphoria, which can lead to addiction (though the risk of addiction is quite low with all ADHD medication if taken as directed). Firstly, the onset and offset of action are more gradual than with any other stimulant. ![]() This gives Vyvanse several beneficial properties. Enzymes present in red blood cells have to cleave lisdexamphetamine in two to activate it. All amphetamine based medication exert their effects due to the dextroamphetamine that they contain (and, levoamphetamine, to a lesser extent, for drugs like Adderall and Evekeo), but with Vyvanse, the dextroamphetamine is released more slowly since it is bound to a lysine molecule. What sets Vyvanse apart from the other amphetamine based medications is the fact that it is a prodrug. In general, if one doesn't work, it makes sense to try the other class. However, these differences don't mean that one medication is better. There are some fairly significant differences between amphetamine and methylphenidate: amphetamine is more potent, methylphenidate affects mainly dopamine, whereas amphetamine affects dopamine and norepinephrine, amphetamine acts intra and extracellularly, while methylphenidate acts only extracellularly, etc. There isn't one class of medication that is inherently superior to the other. Some people do better on one, other people do better on the other. ![]() The difference between amphetamine- and methylphenidate-based medications largely comes down to personal preference.
